SWINE FLU VACCINE:

The Swine Flu Vaccination is available at Noosa General Practice for all Australians, young and old. Please contact Noosa GP for an appointment. It is available free to those over the age of 6 months; and is encouraged for anyone with a chronic disease such as chronic lung disease (including asthma), diabetes, heart disease, immune disorders; as well as for pregnant women and the elderly.

SEASONAL FLU VACCINES:

The next seasonal flu vaccine is available at the end of March. If you're over 65, you're eligible for a free flu vaccine; and if you're Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander you are eligible for the free flu vaccine from 55-years-old. Please phone 07 5474 1066 to make an appointment.

DIABETIC RISK ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR 40 - 45 YEAR OLDS

By taking a quiz - "The Diabetic Risk Assessment Tool" - you can find out if you are at a high risk of developing diabetes. Diabetes is a risk factor for developing heart disease, stroke , kidney failure and blindness. By getting help early on, diabetes can be prevented. Read more about the Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool.

ARE YOU 45-49 YEARS OLD?

If so, you are now eligible for a full medical check that's covered by the Federal Government. It is particularly advisable to attend the surgery for a health assessment if you have any one of the following risk factors:
- family history of diabetes or heart disease or stroke or high blood pressure
- smoker
- overweight
- physical inactivity
- high blood pressure

This will involve a thorough health assessment and examinations. Recommendations will be given to help the patient prevent serious health problems in the future.
